Patriotism
At American School of Martial Arts, we will not fall into the category of 'Blame America First' crowd. By listening to the media, some might get the impression that America is a bad country. If that is the case, why are millions of people risking life and limb to come here illegally? American does have problems, but we are still the greatest nation on God's green earth. You've never heard of the 'Russian Dream' or the 'French Dream' but every day you hear 'Living the American Dream'. No other country deserves or gets that type of positive moniker. So only American customs are practiced at ASMA. We shake hands, we don't bow. There are no Sensei's or any other foreign titles given to instructors. We are true blue to America. At the end of every kids class the Pledge of Allegience is said, even the Under God part, and it is mandatory. This may sound jingoistic, because it is. Whenever I hear the song Proud to be an American, I get tears.
